Locals Beaten by Police
Police have beaten Thaman Singh Basnet, 71 of Gorkha Municipality-11 and Prakash Chaudhary, 45 of Sankariya-6, Parsa on September 21. The police were in the incident site to settle the dispute according to the locals.
Seriously injured Basnet was rushed to Kathmandu after he could not be treated at Gorkha Hospital. He sustained an injury in his face whereas other victim Chaudhary has lost his hearing ability due to the beatings.
The dispute was raised over the case of intimidating local Thaman Singh Basnet by a team led by police inspector Gautam Bohara while he was talking in his mobile phone at night.
DSP Birendra Thapa said that he is unaware about the incident of police beating locals.
Meanwhile, SP Janak Raj Pandey accepted that it was police fault. He added that the guilt will be brought under departmental action.
