Local Level Election- 2079: Electoral Silence Period Begins
The electoral silence period will start from midnight today in accordance with the legal provision. The local level election is on May 13, 2022, Friday.
Although there will be no election campaign or door-to-door campaign during the electoral silence period, there are plenty of instances in which voter-influencing activities such as gatherings, financial temptations, intimidation and threats which were witnessed in the last election.
It has been said that there is unlimited expenditure on the mobilization of cadres even though the election campaign and activities are less flamboyant than in the previous election.
INSEC has started publishing daily report on election activities, incidents of violation of the election code of conduct, human rights violations and abuses from May 10, 2022.
