Letter to the Prime Minister demanding for an end of violence against women
Civil Society Organizations including Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), Women Human Rights Defenders Network, Kaski, Civil Society for Peace Network and NGO Federation have submitted an attention letter to the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba demanding for an end of violence against women.
Following the protest on June 17, a six point attention letter has been submitted to the Prime Minister Deuba through Kaski Chief District Officer, Jayaraj Acharya.
Demands like immediate addressal of Nirhari Rajput’s requests, removal of statute of limitation in the cases of rape, assurance of justice to the victims of violence, bring the offenders under the purview of law, immediate operation of safe house built in the Gandaki province and operation of legal awareness programs in the rural part of the countries have been enlisted in the letter.
Speaking in the program, Bina Silwal, coordinator of civil society organization for peace network, Kaski demanded for the prosecution of the offenders in all forms of violence.
Indra Kumari Sharma, coordinator of Women human rights defenders network, Kaski, said that the victims are being deprived of justice due to slow judicial process and added that the judicial processes should be made quick and effective.
Shiva Khakural. INSEC Gandaki coordinator said that government holds primary responsibility of protective civil rights and hence they shall be serious on this matter.
