Laborers in Kalikot Expresses About Not Receiving their Wages
Laborers working for the construction project of a road in the district expressed that they have not received wages for their work.
Laborers on the agricultural road connecting Lalu of Narharinath Rural Municipality to Laifu of Pachaljharana Rural Municipality complained that they have not received their wages for three months. Ten laborers working on the project in Pachaljharna Rural Municipality-7 and 8 have not received their wages of up to Rs 3,00,000 each.
Netraraj Bam, 38, one of the laborers, expressed that 10 people working in the same group did not get their wages for their work. Similarly, 45-year-old Kusmakhawar Sanjyal of Ward No. 8 also said that the contractor who took over the construction of the road did not pay him wages for three months.
The victims subsequently filed a complaint at the Judicial Committee of the Rural Municipality and Pachaljharana Police Station demanding for their wages. In addition, since their demand was not heard from the relevant bodies, Sanjyal gave a warning stating that he is preparing to go to court.
Similarly, Basanta Bahadur Shahi who was assigned to work on setting gabion net expressed that he has yet to receive Rs 7,50,000 from the contractor. However, Ganesh Bahadur Shahi, the owner of Ganesh Construction Service and in charge of road construction is out of contact.
