Journalist Threatened for Broadcasting News
Ratna Bahadur Karki, 35, Journalist of Radio Pradesh Aawaj of Raskot Municipality-5 was given death threat by Dhanajit Shahi, 53, of Khadachakra Municipality-1 also the Secretary of Karnali Province of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre) for broadcasting news related to their party. It is alleged that Shahi threatened Karki through a phone call claiming that his news has harmed the reputation of his party.
Journalist Karki has filed a complaint at the District Administration Office, Kalikot on March 21, 2022 accusing Shahi of giving death threat and threat of sabotaging the radio station.
According to Chief District Officer Ramhari Sharma, it is wrong to attack the journalist on the context of news and informed the INSEC representative that investigation will be conducted on the incident based on the complaint of the victim.
