Journalist Attacked by Unknown Assailants
The family of Navin Chaudhary, 31, of Jaleshwar, a Mahottari correspondent of AP 1 Television, alleges that unknown assailants attacked him with a beer bottle on the evening of 8 March, leaving him injured.
Journalist Chaudhary, was at Jaleshwar Municipality-5 Chowria to verify news for the Holi festival when he was attacked by unknown assailants. He was treated at Janaki Health Care in Janakpurdham, Dhanusha district.
Rajkaran Mahato, Secretary of Nepal Journalist Federation Mahottari Branch, informed that Choudhary was transferred to Kathmandu on 9 March by Yeti Airlines flight for further treatment.
Chowdhury was hit on the head with a beer bottle, kicked, and beaten with a stick. The hospital report states that he was injured on his head and back.
The victim’s family filed a complaint at the District Police Office Mahottari on 9 March. SP Prakash Malla of District Police Office Mahottari informed that Ranjit Thakur of Madhubani district of India Bihar has been detained on suspicion of being involved in the incident. He said that the investigation into the incident and the search for the other accused is ongoing.
