Intense Rainfall Caused Most Damage in Bagmati Province: Ministry of Home Affairs

In the last 24 hours, incessant rains and floods have caused significant damage to people’s property, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Most of the damage occurred in Bagmati Province. According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on September 28, floods and landslides in the Koshi, Bagmati, and Madhesh provinces have resulted in the deaths of 66 people, injuries to 60 individuals, and 69 people reported missing.

Spokesperson and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Rishiram Tiwari, gave detailed information about the damage in various places through a press conference. He stated that 34 people died in the Kathmandu Valley alone due to floods and landslides. Within the valley, nine people lost their lives in Kathmandu, 18 in Lalitpur, and five in Bhaktapur, while a total of 11 individuals were injured. In addition, 23 people have died in Bagmati Province apart from the mentioned districts, where 35 individuals have been injured and 40 people are reported missing.

In Koshi Province, eight people have died, four individuals have been injured, and eight are reported missing. In Madhesh Province, one person was killed, two were injured, and four are missing. According to the statement released by the ministry, security personnel have already rescued 3,000 people. The statement also mentions that rescue operations were carried out by helicopters in Kathmandu, Kavre, Sindhuli, and Makwanpur.
