INSEC Provides Financial Support to Rape Victim

INSEC Karnali Province Office has provided Rs. 10,000 for legal assistance to a 24-year-old victim of rape.

A meeting of the Human Rights Help Desk set up by INSEC had decided to provide financial assistance on November 10 after investigating the petition of the victim who could not go through the legal process due to her poor financial condition.

INSEC District Representative Jeevan Sejuwal handed over the amount to the victim’s mother on November 26 in the presence of Chhiring Tamang, Vice-Chairperson of Mugum Karmarong Rural Municipality and Urgin Nandul Lama, Secretary of Karaani Community Development Centre.

Tamang thanked INSEC for its financial assistance for legal assistance.

The victim had lodged a complaint against Jung Bahadur BK, 30, of Chhayanatha Rara Municipality-12 at the Police Station on October 9 on the charge of raping the victim.

According to Inspector Bhim Dutta Joshi of the District Police Office, the accused was arrested from his house on October 11 and remanded in custody by the District Court for trial.
