INSEC Provides Financial Support to Victim of Rape
INSEC Lumbini Province Office, Nepalgunj, provided financial assistance for legal support, of Rs. 8,000 to a 40-year-old rape victim on 25 March 2023, the legal process. The victim had filed a complaint against Shailendra Shahi,40, resident of Nakharji Ghar, Khatyad Rural Municipality-9, Mugu District, currently residing in Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-4 Buspark, on 12 September 2022, at the District Police Office.
The police arrested the accused on 16 December 2022. A case of rape was registered in the District Court through the Public Prosecutor’s Office on 11 January 2023.
The victim submitted an application, to the Lumbini Province Office of INSEC on 4 November 2022, under the recommendation of the Dalit Women Association Banke for legal and financial support.
INSEC Lumbini Province Coordinator Bhola Mahat said that the office decided to provide financial assistance to the victim at a Human Rights Assistance Cell meeting on 22 March 2023.
