INSEC provides financial support to the family of Dukhuwa Tharu

Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) has provided a financial support of Rs 25,000 to the family of late Dukhuwa Tharu on November 7. Tharu was a leader of Kamaiya Mukti movement, Human Rights activist and a social justice campaigner.

INSEC mid-western regional coordinator Bhola Mahat presented the amount to the family after reaching to his home after the 10th day of his demise.

While providing the amount coordinator Mahat said that he spend all his life for Human Rights and social justice.

Local, Ashok Sigdel said that his contribution especially in freedom of bonded laborers will always be remembered. Speaking at the program Dukhuwa Tharu’s son Surya Bahadur Tharu thanked everyone for valuing his contribution and supporting them.

Dukhuwa Tharu,69 was ill for a long time and he passed away on October 28 at his residence in Dhodhari VDC-1. He left a mark as a loved leader of  peasant, free Kamaiyas and squatters.

Tharu was honored with Prakash Human Rights award by INSEC for his continuous involvement and contribution to Human Rights and social justice.

INSEC while releasing a press statement on today remembered his leadership and contribution for peasant , freedom of bonded laborers and squatters. The statement signed by INSEC chairperson Subodh Raj Pyakurel stated that his contribution was honored by INSEC through Prakash Human Rights award in 2007.
