INSEC Provided Financial Assistance to Rape Victim

Raju Paswan, Coordinator of INSEC Madhesh Province along with Ward Chairperson Dipendra Kumar Yadav and ward member Palas Sadaya jointly provided financial support to a 40-year-old rape victim with a mental disability on April 1. They handed over a cheque of Rs 10,000 to the victim.

A complaint was filed against Shekhar Sharma Barahi, 25, of Anarma Rural Municipality at the Siraha District Police Office on February 29. He was accused of raping the victim on February 28. The victim underwent a health examination at the provincial hospital in Siraha on the same day.

Inspector Udayabhan Dwivedi of the District Police Office Siraha said that search for the absconding accused is going on.

Raju Paswan of INSEC Madhesh Province said that the economic condition of the victims was weak and she lacked even basic necessities like food and a bed to sleep. Additionally,  he  expressed the belief that this support will help the victims to proceed with the legal process and also help them in health treatment. Furthermore, he also met with SP Santosh Acharya of the District Police Office Siraha to discuss the legal proceedings for the victims, the arrest of the accused, and the overall human rights situation in the district.
