INSEC Provided Financial Assistance to Rape Victim

INSEC (Informal Sector Service Center) provided financial assistance to a 16-year-old rape victim on 7 May, 2024.

A collaborative team of Raju Paswan, INSEC Madhesh Province Coordinator,  Ward Chairperson Binod Kumar Yadav, Mamata Kumari Yadav, of Bariyarpatti Rural Municipality, and Document Officer Mohan Kumar Chaudhary jointly handed over  Rs 10,000 to the victim’s family as a financial support.

The  victim’s family informed that  the girl was repeatedly raped by a 15-year-old boy since January 23. They added that she was 12 weeks pregnant and a complaint was subsequently  filed at the District Police Office, Siraha on April 13. Additionally, DSP Muktinath Sapkota of the District Police Office, Siraha informed that the accused was arrested on the same day as soon as the incident was reported.

The health examination of the victim was done on April 13 at the Provincial Hospital, Siraha.

Raju Paswan of INSEC, said he believes that the financial support will help the victim in getting nutritious food and health treatment as the financial condition of the victim is weak. The assistance will also help her to move forward in the legal process for justice.

Furthermore, Paswan met with Inspector Udayabhan Diwedi from the District Police Office, Siraha and discussed the legal proceedings for the victim’s case and the human rights situation in the district.
