INSEC Provided Financial Assistance to a Rape Victim

INSEC provided financial support to the family of an 18-year-old rape victim on April 21. The victim had asked INSEC to help her as her financial condition was very weak and she had problems with fulfilling her basic requirements. Subsequently, INSEC handed over a financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 to the victim’s sister on April 21 on the  basis of the application filed by the victim.

The victim, who traveled from Kapilvastu to Lungri Rural Municipality of Rolpa for work, cannot afford bus fare to return home to her parents in Tikkar. She expressed that she was unable to continue her studies due to the financial struggles. Her sister claims the accused raped the victim causing her mental distress.  The victim is currently living in a safe house where she is receiving all necessary care including counseling.

A complaint against Nemlal Khadka, 25, of Lungri Rural Municipality-2, Shirpa on March 19 at the Area Police Office, Sulichaur for raping the victim on March 16 and the accused was arrested on March 20. The medical examination of the victim was done at Same day at Rolpa District Hospital, Reugha. The bench of the district court on 9 April sent the accused for pre-trial detention.

Victim submitted the application to INSEC with the help of Inspector Ram Narayan Gupta of the District Police Office.
