INSEC Madhesh Province Office Conducts On-site Monitoring of Rape Incident.

Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) Madhesh Province Office, Janakpur conducted an on-site monitoring of a rape incident on 17 March 2023.

Under the leadership of INSEC Madhesh Province coordinator Raju Paswan, Executive director of Dalit Janakalyan Yuwa Club, Binod Kumar Bisunke, Coordinator of WOREC, Anita Chaudhary, Chairperson of Women Human Rights Defender Network Sirha, Gangakumari Adhikari, Province coordinator of Learning Network, Renu Karna and INSEC representative Durga Pariyar jointly monitored the incident. During the follow-up, they found that the 35-year-old disabled woman was eight months pregnant due to rape. Her economic condition was poor.

The local deputy health post provided some iron pills and vaccinations from the local deputy health post. However, the head of the health post, Sanjay Kumar Shah, informed that the post hadn’t made the vaccination. After the initiation of the monitoring team Sanjay Kumar Sah immediately made a vaccination card and promised to provide medicine and regular checkups to the victim.

INSEC Madhesh Province Coordinator, Raju Paswan promised to provide financial support to the victim from the Violence Victims Fund of INSEC.

The victim filed a complaint at the Local Police Office Maheshpur, Patar on 16 December 2022, accusing Chandan Yadav, 20, of Sukhipur Municipality-3 of rape. According to the victim, the incident took place on 3 August 2022

The health examination of the victim woman was conducted at the Provincial Hospital Siraha on 3 August and further examination was also conducted on 4 August.

Inspector Keshav Katuwal of the Area Police Office Maheshpur Patar informed the team that the accused of the incident is absconding, and the search is on.
