INSEC Initiated Health and Hygiene Material Support to Patients in District Hospital

INSEC initated Health and hygiene materials support to the patients at the district hospital in Humla. The materials were distributed to 11 patients receiving treatment in the hospital’s emergency ward on September 19. During a meeting of relevant agencies held on September 18, a school-level program was proposed for Constitution Day. However, INSEC expressed disagreement and urged that significant actions be taken from a human rights perspective. As the number of patients in the district is increasing, INSEC called for providing health and hygiene materials to assist insured patients at the district hospital. Chief District Officer Binod Kumar Pokharel, Vice Chairperson of Simkot Rural Municipality, Sushila Rokaye, and Chief of the Social Development Office Humla, Harka Bahadur Basnet, acknowledged the importance of the issues and demands raised by INSEC. In response, the patients were provided with the necessary materials.

Sushila Rokaya, Vice Chairperson of the Simkot Rural Municipality, said that toiletries such as towels, nail cutters, toothbrushes, bath soap, and laundry soap, and half a kilo of Horlicks were distributed to each patient. Chief District Officer Binod Kumar Pokharel informed that the materials were provided with the joint financial support of Simkot Rural Municipality and the Social Development Office Humla.

As per Harka Bahadur Basnet, Chief of the Social Development Office, Humla, a total of 16,500 rupees worth of material was supported at the rate of 1,500 per patient. Prem Bahadur Singh, Chief of the Health Service Office, and Bijay Bhandari, Chairperson of Simkot Rural Municipality, both stated that this remarkable effort has brought much-needed relief to hospital patients.
