INSEC Sudurpaschim Province Office in Dhangadhi provided financial assistance to the victims of a rape incident to support them throughout the judicial process, on June 27. The financial aid was given to two victims who were residing in a safe house operated by WOREC Nepal.

Upon receiving a recommendation from WOREC stating that the financial condition of the victimized women and girls was weak, the INSEC Sudurpaschim Province Office, Dhangadhi, extended Rs. 8,000 as financial support.

One of the victims had filed a complaint against Suvarna Chaudhary, a 37-year-old resident of Kailari Village-2, on April 30 at the District Police Office, Kailali, accusing him of raping a 30-year-old woman on April 12, 2023. The victim underwent a medical examination on April 12 at Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi.

Similarly, another victim lodged a complaint against Avinash Chaudhary, a 21-year-old resident of Gauriganga Municipality-11 Perhani, on April 18, 2023, at the District Police Office, Kailali, alleging the rape of a 16-year-old girl on April 17. The victim’s medical examination took place on April 18 at Seti Provincial Hospital in Dhangadhi.

Gita Chaudhary, a senior program officer at WOREC, mentioned that due to a lack of funds, INSEC was recommended to assist the victims in navigating the judicial process. Khadakraj Joshi, the Coordinator of INSEC Sudurpaschim Province, emphasized that financial support was provided to ensure that the victims would not be deprived of justice due to financial constraints. The aim was to facilitate the victims’ access to justice more easily.
