INSEC coordinated food aid for two economically disadvantaged households in Birendranagar Municipality-11, Baluwatar, to support funeral rituals. The assistance was provided to 35-year-old Omisara Nepali and 40-year-old Ammar Bahadur Gandarbha on September 27. Nepali’s mother-in-law and Gandarbha’s son-in-law had passed away, and they appealed to INSEC for help due to food shortages during their stay.

Under the leadership of INSEC Karnali Province Coordinator Narayan Subedi, Navajyoti Center and Birendranagar Municipality-11 they contributed four sacks of rice, four kgs lentils, four kgs chickpeas, four liters of oil, four kgs salt, four dozen biscuits, and two kgs apples. Narayan Subedi, Coordinator of INSEC Karnali Provincial Office, stated that assistance was provided in coordination with Navajyoti Center and the Ward Office after they learned about the food shortage during the death rituals.

Likewise, Toplal Tiwari, a ward member of Birendranagar Municipality-11, appreciated INSEC for coordinating support for everyone during such difficult times. Jarmaya Batha of Navjyoti Center expressed her gratitude to INSEC for showing interest in food rights by saying that they have helped to make the rituals comfortable. Devi Karki of Navajyoti, Chhayan Baigar of the Nepal Gandarbha Development Association, and Kuber Thapa of Sahakarmi Samaj (a non-governmental organization empowering disadvantaged and marginalized communities) were present during the handover program.
