INSEC Assisted Victim in Going Through Legal Process

INSEC (Informal Sector Service Center) Karnali Province Office, Surkhet, provided financial assistance to 25-year-old Sharmila BK, of Bhagwatimai Rural Municipality-6, Dailekh and currently residing in Birendranagar Municipality-8 Budhha Chowk, Surkhet, to go through the legal process on May 8.

The victim  informed that her 25-year-old husband Rajendra BK subjected her to domestic violence by repeatedly beating and mentally torturing her.

She expressed that after she got evicted from the house on December 26, she filed a case in the district court under domestic violence and property partition. However, she was not satisfied with the decision of the Court and subsequently filed a case at the High Court of Surkhet.

Since the victim had financial problems and difficulties in paying for the legal process, she submitted an application to INSEC on April 16, urging for financial support.

Narayan Subedi, INSEC Coordinator of Karnali Province, informed that the victim was provided  with a financial support of Rs 10,000 according to the decision of the meeting held by the human rights help desk on April 30 based on the application of the victim.

The provided assistance will help the victims with the application fees, photocopies and travel expenses required while going through the legal process.
