INSEC and NHRC monitors the Seti Zonal Hospital

Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC) and National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) have conducted a monitoring of Seti Zonal Hospital in Kailali on December 13. During the monitoring the service of the hospital is found to be ineffective.

Provincial director Jhankar Rawal of NHRC said that the monitoring was conducted after various news regarding the service of the hospital was made publish in media. The monitoring was conducted to gather whether the hospital is providing quality services or not.

He added that due to the lack of quality service from the hospital, majority of the patients are compelled to go to India for treatment and they are deprived of the health rights provisioned by the constitution.

INSEC provincial coordinator Khadga Raj Joshi of Sudurpaschim said that upgrading of the hospital is essential to ensure the health rights of people of this area.

The monitoring team found that a pregnant woman , Shova Uprety of Mahendra Nagar Municipality-9said that she had to face difficulties during the labor period as there were no beds available in the hospital.

Medical superintendent Dr Hem Ram Pandey said that no initiation has been taken for upgrading the hospital.

He added that there are 12 posts of doctors and 32 posts for nurses are still vacant.
