Inmates Facing Difficulties due to Overcrowd
The prison administration of Panchthar said that inmates and detainees are facing difficulties due to the over crowd. In panchthar prison there are five times more inmates and detainees than its capacity. The prison has a capacity to accommodate only 25 prisoners however there are 129 prisoners and detainees which includes 12 women and 114 male. There are three dependent children among them.
There is a difficulty in management due to the over crowd said jailer Surendra Mukhiya. He added “some inmates are sleeping under the bed and some over the bed”. They are facing difficulties to go to the toilets as there are few toilets. According to the inmates, they are facing difficulties in eating, sleeping and going to the toilet.
