Increase in the Cases of Pneumonia and Diarrhoea in Humla
The number of patients suffering from pneumonia and diarrhoea has increased in the district hospital of Humla. Mostly children are suffering from pneumonia and diarrhoea.
The number of children suffering from pneumonia and diarrhoea has increased in the hospital since the first week of May.
Maya Shahi of Kharpunath Rural Munnicipality-5, staying at the hospital to treat her three-year-old daughter, said that her daughter was diagnosed with pneumonia. She further said that she has been treating her daughter since May 21 after she was diagnosed with fever and respiratory problems.
Senior Auxiliary Nurse Midwife Sarita Bohara of the district hospital said that the number of children coming for daily treatment has hiked since a week. According to Bohara, 13 children with pneumonia and diarrhoea have been admitted to the 15-bedded hospital.
Seven of the sick children admitted to the hospital are getting treatment under the assistance of oxygen due to respiratory problems. She also said that one girl died due to pneumonia and another was in a critical condition.
Most of the sick children were under the age of three years. According to Bohara, more than 30 children from Simkot rural municipality comes daily for treatment of pneumonia and diarrhoea. As the number of sick children increases, so does the bed in the hospital.
Those children in a critical condition are admitted in the hospital and the normal ones are sent home after treatment. The number of sick children has increased due to the consumption of contaminated water due to changes in weather, increase in temperature during monsoons and negligence of food habits.
