Husband Arrested in the Accusation of Domestic Violence
Police has arrested Nawin Kumar Das, 28, of Rajbiraj Municipality-3, on 13 March in the charge of conducting domestic violence against Aarati Das, 25.
Victim has filed a complaint at the District Police Office against her husband, father-in-law Ghanashyam Das, 62, mother-in-law Raj Kumari Devi Das, 58, sister-in-laws Aasha Devi Das, 38 and Nitu Das, 23 on 6 February 2023 alleging that they beat her for not bringing demanded dowry after marriage. District Police Office lodged a case of offense relating to Marriage on 16 February.
Victim and Nawin had tied knots on 6 December 2020. As per the victim, she was tortured mentally, physically and economically for failing to provide additional 50 Lakhs as Dowry to buy a land. She also shared that her husband threatened her of divorcing her and marrying someone else.
Victim had entered her home after Saptari District Court issued an interim protection order on 13 June 2022 in the case of domestic violence filed on 10 June. Victim informed that she was beaten by the accused after an application filed by them to annul the interim order was quashed.
