Human Rights Coalition Draws Attention to immediately begin reconstruction work
The Human Rights coalition of Gorkha has drawn the attention of concerned bodies to immediately initiate the post-quake reconstruction work in a district.
President Yadu Adhikari of the coalition has drawn the attention of National Reconstruction Authority, District Police Office and District Administration Office on October 23.
The coalition has also demanded to ensure that the first installment of Rs 50,000 distributed to the victims is utilized. The first instalment of grant money has already been distributed to 52,410 families to build the houses.
The reconstruction work has not begun even after the distribution of first installment. This might result that the money will be spent somewhere else said Adhikari.
He further said that the attention was drawn as 15500 family’s problem regarding not getting grant money has not been addressed yet. He demanded government to immediately initiate investigation on complaint lodged by those victims whose names were not included in beneficiary list.
The earthquake victims have not even started to build their house from the first installment of money received. However, administrative officer Satish Kumar Bhattarai of DDC said that the reconstruction work will accelerate immediately after the Tihar festival.
