Human Rights Activists Submit Memorandum to the Government Demanding Vaccination Against COVID-19

Human rights activists including INSEC have submitted a memorandum to the Government of Nepal, demanding timely vaccination for the citizens of the district. It was submitted on July 19, 2021.

According to Leela Bahadur Sunuwar, Secretary of NGO Federation of Okhaldunga, INSEC along with Advocacy Network Okhaldhunga submitted the memorandum to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba through Chief District Officer Bandana Rai. The memorandum is for the immediate management of vaccination against COVID-19 for the citizens of the district.

Shiva Prasad Dhungana, Editor of citizenmedia.com Okhaldhunga, said we have already experienced the first and second wave of Covid-19 and according to the experts; we will also witness the third wave, therefore, the memorandum was submitted to draw the attention of the government of Nepal through the Chief District Officer for immediate vaccination against Covid-19.

Kumbha Raj Rai, District Correspondent of Kantipur Daily, said that INSEC, the Advocacy Network of civil society and journalists active in the field of human rights, have sent the memorandum to the Government of Nepal for vaccination against COVID-19. The network has urged the Government of Nepal to provide the vaccine against COVID-19 to every citizen of the district on time.

Receiving the memorandum from the human rights activists, Chief District Officer Bandana Rai said that the infection of Covid-19 has increased in the district and steps will be taken for the management of the vaccine against Covid-19. She further added that she would seriously coordinate with the upper bodies regarding the concern of the human rights activists.
