Hospital Locked Up, Family Blames Hospital for Death of Pregnant Woman
The aggrieved party claimed that the district hospital’s negligence took the life of a pregnant woman. They forcefully locked the District Hospital has locked the District Hospital’s Administrative Office and filed a petition demanding a discussion on the matter, on June 3.
The head of the hospital, Kamal Dhungana, was not available for the discussion with the aggrieved family. Kushant Bhandari, acting Head of the District Hospital and family member of the deceased Lekhraj Pariyar, reached an agreement to discuss with the District Administration. The deal was done in the presence of media personnel and human rights activists.
Raju Nepali, 30, of Chanyanath Rara Municipality-13, started having labor contractions on June 1 and was admitted to the hospital on May 2. The mother and the unborn child died in the hospital. Maylal Nepali, 31, the deceased’s husband, has alleged that his wife was killed due to the negligence of the doctors. He states that she died due to excessive use of anesthesia.
Bir Bahadur Khadka, the ward chairperson of Chhayanath Rara Municipality-13, said that he believes the hospital’s negligence was the main reason for the patient’s death.
According to Dhungana, the hospital had informed Nepali about the risk of death of his wife and unborn child during a C-section surgery as soon as they were referred to the Jumal Hospital. They had also signed a written consent for the surgery.
