High Court Orders Authorities to Provide Details of Efforts and Progress Made for Control and Prevention of COVID-19

The Tulsipur High Court Nepalgunj  Bench has ordered District Administration Office, Chief District Officer and District Disaster Management Committee to appear with a brief description of the efforts and progress made so far in the control and prevention of COVID-19 on April 28, 2021.

The writ was filed by lawyers and human rights activists on April 27. The initial hearing of the writ was done by Judge Dr. Ratna Bahadur Bagchand in which he summoned both parties for a hearing of the interim order on May 10, 2021.

According to Advocate Sunil Shrestha, the court had ordered the opposition District Administration Office, Banke and the Chief District Officer to appear with a brief description of the efforts and progress made so far in controlling and preventing covid and also released an order to show cause.

It has been ordered to submit a written reply through the Government Prosecutor’s Office, Nepalgunj, within 15 days, except for the travelling duration.

As Nepalgunj is going through a terrifying condition due to COVID-19, Coordinator of INSEC Lumbini Province Bhola Mahat, FWLD Coordinator Sunil Kumar Shrestha, Consumer Interest Protection Forum’s Chairperson Basanta Gautam, Information and Human Rights Research Centre Chairperson Advocate Bishwajit Tiwari, Advocates Lok Bahadur Shah and Prabhakar Bhattarai filed the writ petition against the District Administration Office Banke, Chief District Officer and District Disaster Management Committee.
