Health workers in Chandannath municipality have complained that they have not received salary allowances since February. Health workers in Chandannath municipality have complained that they have not received salary allowances since February.

Chandannath Municipality Health Branch’s Public Health Inspector, Chhetra Bahadur Mahat, complained that there is only one week left to close the accounts for the current financial year 2023/2024. However, he has not received his salary due to the non-disbursement of funds for the health worker’s salary allowance. He expressed disappointment, stating that it is unfortunate that health workers, who provide 80% of health services by working round the clock, have not received their salary allowance for a long time.

Public Health Inspector Mahat stated that two health workers working at the local levels here, along with 29 permanent staff providing health services in Chandannath Municipality, have not received their salary allowance since February 2024. He mentioned that although the Ministry of Health and Population requested sufficient salary allowance for permanent health workers on June 10, the Ministry of Finance has not released the funds, even as the current financial year is about to end.

According to Dharmaraj Neupane, Chief Administrative Officer of Chandannath Municipality, Jumla, it has not been possible to provide health workers with their salaries because the salary allowance funds have not been released. He mentioned that the salary allowance will be disbursed by 4 July. Furthermore, after the funds are released, the health workers will receive five months’ salary in a single payment.
