A Group that Walked from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu for Justice; Started a Sit-in at Maitighar

An indefinite hunger strike has been started by the group of activists who walked from Nepalgunj to kathmandu for 20 days. The strike has been taking place at Maitighar mandela since 8th October 2021, demanding for an impartial investigation in the two incidence of violence against woman that took place at Banke.

A group of 14 people have come to Kathmandu on foot, demanding a sincere investigation in the killing of Nikuni Dhobi from Newaji village, Banke; who was found dead in her own home on 20th July, 2021 and disappearance of a single woman, Nirmal Kurmi who has been missing since last year.

Stating that the police has not carried out an effective investigation, family of the victims along with the activists staged a sit-in for 19 days in front of the District Administration Office, Banke before coming to Kathmandu.

National Human Rights Commission, Women’s Commission, Activists and members from Civil society visited Maitighar Mandela to demonstrate solidarity with victim and understand the issue.
