Government Takes Initiation to Vaccinate the Children

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that they have taken initiation for bringing vaccination for the children.

Dr Gunaraj Lohani, Chief of the Policy, Planning and Monitoring Division of the Ministry, informed that they have initiated the process to get the vaccination for children above 12 years of age. According to Lohani, the government is preparing to bring about six million Pfizer vaccines for children. 

According to the National Census of 2068 BS, the number of individuals under the age of 19 is 19,667,690. 

According to the Ministry, the first dose of the vaccine has been given to 3,405,154 people and the second dose has been given to 1,430,416 people so far. 

According to Dr Lohani, Nepal has received 9,782,850 vaccines till date. 

Under the received vaccines 1,882,850 (348,000 Covishield and 1,534,850 Johnson & Johnson) were through the COVAX program and 2.9 million (1.8 million from China and 1.1 million from India) were from foreign grants.

Similarly, the government has purchased five million doses(1 million Covishield and 3.2 million Verocell).
