Four Injured in Landmine Explosion

On February 22, 2024, during road excavation activities near Bhasubhir in Chure Rural Municipality-3, Sahajpur, an explosion occurred, resulting in injuries to four individuals.

The injured parties include Bikash Thapa, a 24-year-old JCB driver from Alital Rural Municipality-8, Dadeldhura district; Hira Thapa, a 22-year-old roller operator from Surkhet district; Basant Khadayat, aged 45, from Chure Rural Municipality-3, Sahajpur; and Navit Dev, a 35-year-old engineer from Hatkhola-3, Biratnagar Metropolitan Municipality, Morang district.

Hira Thapa, Navit Dev, and Basant Khadayat sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving intensive care treatment at Maya Metro Hospital in Dhangadhi. Bikash Thapa, who suffered minor injuries, is undergoing treatment at Sahajapur health post.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Chand from District Police Office, Kailali, confirmed that the explosion resulted from an explosive device buried underground during road excavation and widening near Basubhir in Sahajpur, Chure Rural Municipality-3. It is suspected that the explosive device may have been remnants from the armed conflict.
