Four Children Injured After the School Building Collapsed, Education Affected
The building of Saraswati Basic School in Hurimahari-3 in Patarasi Rural Municipality in the eastern part of Jumla has collapsed and four students have been injured as well as the education has been affected.
Students were injured when the school building collapsed on August 7, 2022, while classes were ongoing. According to Dilli Budha, a teacher of the school, those who were injured were students of grade three and four. Among the injured, Munkali Budha, 11, and Sustika Budha, 11, were deeply wounded. The building was very old and dilapidated. Dilli Budha further said that the three-roomed building of the school had collapsed and the injured students were treated at local health institute. The legs of both the girls were severely injured.
According to Bishnu Dhital, Chief Administrative Officer of Patarasi Rural Municipality, a team including the Education Branch of the rural municipality, police and Chief District Officer monitored the site on August 8. He assured me that they will manage the budget for the reconstruction of the destroyed building.
He said that students of two different classes were kept in the same classroom for the time being and the multi-class teaching method will be used for immediate learning purposes. The building was not concrete.
