Four Child Labor rescued, Industry operator arrested

Police have arrested two industry operators on March 30 on charge of employing children in their industry. The children were forced to work for 17 hours a day along with torture according to the police. The children were rescued by police in joint coordination with District child walefare committee Bhaktapur, Metropolitan Police circle, Thimi, CIWIN and labor office , Teku. Three of the children were exploited in R.K copy industry operated at Suryabinayak Municipality-2, Balkot by compelling them to work in a room for 6 in the morning till 10 at night. The operator Rajiv Chaudhary has been arrested by the police on charge of exploiting and using child as a labor.

Similarly, fishery Santosh Gupta of Motihari Bihar has been arrested by the police on charge of employing one child in his fish shop, at Shankhadhar Chok at Madhyapur Thimi, for 17 hours a day.

Police have rescued 10 years old Shahil Mohamad, 12 years old Ishad Mohamed and 11 years old Ladan Mohamad from Copy industry where as 12 years old Munnaj Ansari is rescued from the fish shop. The children sustained hand injuries due to a continuous work. Coordinator Sagar Bhandari of Child Helpline said that this is one of the  serious incident on child rights violation.

The arrested accused will be charged under the law according to secretary member Nila Ghimire of District Child wale fare committee. She added that the initiation will be taken to  reinstated the children to their family.
