Formation of Province-Level Women’s Human Rights defender Network at Madhesh Province

Madhesh province-level women’s human rights defenders network was formulated, on 30 March 2023, under the initiative of the Informal Sector Service Center( INSEC), WOREC Nepal, Mukti Nepal,  and the National Network of Women Human Rights Defenders.

A 21-member women’s human rights defender network has been formed,  under the coordination of advocate Rekha Jha (Dhanusha). The members of the network formed include Deepika Karki, Rana Samim, Pradeep Kumar Yadav and Anita Yadav (Dhanusha), Rekha Jha and Veena Singh (Mahottari), Rambha Jha, Lakshmi Paswan and Dev Kumari Yadav (Sirha), Manju Subedi and Niva Singh (Bara), Sudha Yadav and Nila Ram (Parsa), Anita Devkota and Nani Maiya Katuwal (Saptari), Ganga Adhikari and Anita Choudhary (Sirha) and representation of Mandavi organization (Rahutahat)

Shyam Kumari Sah, Chairperson of the National Network of Women Human Rights Defenders, and Bikas Banjara from WOREC Nepal explained the rationale and purpose of forming the network.

The network has also released a seven-point manifesto from the two-day workshop. Rekha Jha, Chairperson of the network, and other human rights defenders handed the manifesto to the Chairperson of the Madhesi Commission Dr. Vijay Datta on 30 March.
