Flood Caused Problems in Operation of School in Sindhuli
Pashupati Basic School in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-5, Mulkot, was flooded due to the overflowing Sunkoshi River on September 28, 2024. Since the school was affected by the flood, its operations have been disrupted and have not resumed. It has been reported that the school has been unable to reopen due to damage to its physical structure.
School principal Nirmala Shrestha stated, “The school has a four-room building. The under-construction RCC building, four trust buildings, and two toilets have been flooded.She added that all educational and other materials of the school are no longer usable. She added that eight students with intellectual disabilities and two staff members who were in the school hostel were rescued at 2 o’clock on September 28, 2024, after the flood affected the school. According to her, the issue of reopening the school remains unclear. Meanwhile, with the Dashain holiday underway, locals have stated that further decisions will be made only after the festival.
