The village has not received relief even after a year of government’s decision to deliver 7 thousand quintals of rice in 24 VDCs of Mugu with the last year’s drought.

Last year, 12 of the 24 VDC were declared vulnerable place for availability of food and 12 VDC as food-oriented. The villagers have not been able to receive relief of 3 thousand 2 hundred and 33 quintals 4 kg of rice due to lack of budget allocation from the Ministry of Finance even a year after the determination made by the government to provide the 7 thousand quintals of rice for immediate relief in all the village.

According to chief of Food Corporation Karna Bahadur Rawal, the government has failed to provide the relief as the Ministry of Finance has not disbursed the amount necessary for the transportation of rice.

The 7 VDCs of Soru area were considered the most drought affected place in the district. The government had announced to distribute 2 thousand quintals of rice in seven VDC however the district has received 7 hundred 21 quintals of rice in a year, said District Food Corporation. But, Padam Bahadur Shahi of Jima VDC accused that victims of drought has not received a grain of rice as relief provided by the government.
