Elderly Woman in a cage for two years
It has been revealed that a 92 years old elderly woman Biba Sarki of Bajhakhet VDC-8 has been locked inside the cage by her family members since two years. The victim has been locked in a cage 50 meters away from her house despite of having daughter in laws and daughters in her family.
Her 52 years old son Chandra Bahadur Sarki said that the family is compelled to lock her inside the cage for two years as her mental state is unstable.
She has been taken to the Besishahar Hospital once for the treatment however after that she could not be taken for the follow up due to the financial state of the family said Ram Kaji, grandson of the victim.
Biba has two sons and three daughters. Her grandson is receiving a social security allowances provided to her according to Chandra Bahadur.
The constitution of Nepal has ensured and protected the right of senior citizens however a senior citizen of Lamjung is compelled to live inside the cage for two years by her own family members.
