Earthquake Strikes Jajarkot, Leaving 92 Dead and Hundreds Injured

The earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 struck Barekot Rural Municipality at midnight on November 3, claiming the lives of 92 individuals.

Bheri Municipality-3 and Nalgad Municipality-1, Barekot Rural Municipality, Kushe Rural Municipality, and Chedagad Municipality have experienced significant property damage and losses.

Sarita Singh, Deputy Mayor of Nalgad Municipality, was among those who lost their lives in the earthquake.

According to DSP Santosh Roka of the District Police Office in Jajarkot, 92 people lost their lives in the earthquake that occurred at midnight of November 3.

The injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Jajarkot. DSP Roka from the District Police Office reported that those with severe injuries have been transported to Surkhet and Nepalgunj for further medical attention.

Chief District Officer Suresh Sunar has announced that preparations are underway to airlift severely injured individuals to Kathmandu via helicopter.

Bheri Municipality-3, including Pipaldad, Mathillo Thaple, and Bheri-1 Rawatgau, has experienced major damage.

Citizens have spent the night on the streets and within school premises, seeking safety. Landslides in various areas have posed challenges for rescue operations, making it difficult to reach and assist earthquake victims.
