Dozen of Village on High Risk Zone for Flood an Landslide

More than a dozen villages of Alital Rural Municipality of the district, including Khinnebhadi, Daini, Koirale, and Khursanijhala, are living in a high-risk zone for floods.
Despite the various attempts by the locals to receive support and help from all three levels of government, the authorities haven’t responded yet.
Shersingh Parki, Chairperson of the Rural Municipality, the issue has been presented to the federal government, however, there has been no hearing regarding the issues yet.
Padam Bahadur Saud, one of the residents of the village, says- ‘There has been damage here every year due to floods and landslides. We are worried about floods and landslides.Diini, Khinnebhadi and Koiralebasti are at high risk. Our lives are at stake. The state should protect our right to live.
The residents demand the construction of an embankment wall with machinery and wire mesh. They further demand a safe tower to avoid possible disasters.
Mahadev Secondary School in Alital Rural Municipality-7, Khinnebhadi also at high risk of landslides. Dil Bahadur Parki, the principal of the school, said that the school, which is preparing to conduct class 11, is at high risk of landslides.
According to him, currently, 450 students are studying in the school.
Village Chairperson Shersingh Parki said that contrary to the efforts of the local level to ensure support from the federal government, they haven’t shown any interest.
Chairperson Parki said that the file he submitted to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development of Far West Province, is still hasn’t advanced from the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
