Domestic Violence Victim Appeals INSEC To Take Initiative For Justice

40-year-old Sita Shrestha of Chautara Sagachokgadhi Municipality-12, who has been subjected to repeated violence by her husband, has requested INSEC to initiate justice on December 6, 2023.

Sita Shrestha, the victim, formally submitted a written request to the INSEC district representative, seeking initiation for  justice.

The victim, Sita Shrestha, reported that her husband, Ramkumar Shrestha, repeatedly abused her and expelled her from the house, alleging infidelity.

She applied for justice at the ward office and the district police office after being abused by her husband multiple times. However, she received a settlement letter of agreement from both the places.

In the request, the victim stated that her husband committed to covering all expenses for his three children’s education, food, housing, and festival-related costs in the settlement letter. However, the agreed-upon terms outlined in the letter have not been implemented yet.

Accusing her of not bringing dowry in the marriage, her husband had tortured her several times before which made her ill at an early age due to her husband’s torture. The victim has two sons and a daughter.

She expressed that there are challenges concerning the educational expenses of her sons and daughters, as well as the rising overall expenses. Additionally, there is a financial burden associated with traveling to various offices to seek justice.

A formal request has been submitted to District Police Chief Balnarsingh Rana, urging to bring the victim to the district police office for the pursuit of justice.
