Demonstration Demanding Fair Investigation Into Couple Killing Incident
A demonstration was held in Kavre on 11 June, demanding a thorough investigation into the killing incident of 60-year-old Manbahadur Bal and his wife 50-year-old Kekaimaya Bal of Mahabharat Rural Municipality-4 Mahadevtar. The couple was found dead on 20 May.
According to reports, after the couple didn’t come in the Thakur Puja (a type of ritual), their neighbors visited their home with ritual offerings and found them dead. Chairperson Kanchhalal Jimma stated that the crime scene indicated that the couple appeared to have been killed by sustaining injuries with a sharp weapon to their heads. The wife’s body was discovered outside a room, while the husband’s body was found locked inside another room.
The aggrieved party staged the protest emphasizing that the accused had not been arrested even after 22 days since the incident. They had filed a FIR at the District Police Office on May 22. The demonstration was carried out with slogans such as Proceed the FIR, No one has the right to take lives, Arrest the accused, Justice for the deceased couple, Demand for fair police investigation, Expose heinous accused, and so on.
It is reported that the police team of Phoksingtar Police Station and the District Police Office, Dhulikhel had taken a crime scene report after the incident.
The post-mortem of the body was done on May 22 at Dhulikhel Hospital.
