Demonstration continues against the constitution amendment

The demonstration and protests continues in some districts in western region against the government’s proposal of dividing province number 5 prior to the implementation of newly promulgated constitution.

According to the INSEC district representative Narayan Bhusal of Arghakhanchi, a huge assembly was organized in the district by Joint Revolutionary Committee.

The demonstration started from Shanti Bagaicha of Sandhikharka and converted into triangle assembly after reaching Tundikhel.

While addressing the assembly, parliamentarian Duman Singh Thapa of constitution number 2 said that the government has played with the sentiment of people in these areas by attempting to divide the geography where people from Terai and Hilly region are living in harmony. He added that the proposal is against the sentiment of the people and it will be protested in parliament. He said that the agitation will continue until the amendment proposal is not corrected.

Chandra Bahadur Khadka, a politburo member of CPN Maoist said that he will give hand to the people of this area as he cannot go against the sentiment of the people.

Kamal Bhushal of Nepali Congress said that he will give hand to the people even though his party is in the government. He said that he can never go against the sentiment of the people.

Coordinator Bishnu Khanal Muskan of the Revolutionary committee accused government of attempting to divide people in the name of constitution amendment. He assured the people that he will give hand until the end.

The public demonstration was addressed by major political parties CPN UML, Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist including Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal and Pariwar Dal.

The protest and Band has severely affected the normal lives of the people in these regions. Educational and health sectors have been affected by the agitation.

According to Gulmi District Representative Top Lal Aryal, the normal lives of the people have been affected by the agitation on December 5.

Major political parties have addressed a huge assembly in Tamghas against the government’s proposal of constitution amendment. They said that the proposal to divide province number five is against the sentiment of people.

Coordinator of agitation deployment committee and district president of Nepali Congress Bhuwan Prasad Shrestha said that the normal lives of people have been severely affected during the district Band.

Durga Prasad Pandey, president of Industry and Commerce Federation of Gulmi said that the entrepreneurs will continue the agitation until the proposal is not taken back.

According to Palpa District Representative   Yagya Murti Timilsina, the agitation has severely affected the normal lives of the people in Palpa.

As per the decision of Joint Agitation Committee of Palpa, demonstration was organized in various places of the district. In sixth day of agitation, the normal lives have been affected in the district. The political party’s leaders have declared indefinite strike until the proposal is not withdrawn. The assembly was addressed by parliamentarian Som Prasad Pandey and Radha Krishna Kandel.

While addressing the assembly, Thakur Gaire, central member of CPN UML accused government of bringing anti-national proposal and urged to withdraw the proposal as soon as possible. He added that the agitation will continue until the amendment bill is not withdrawn. The assembly was supported by neighboring villages of Tansen.

The assembly was addressed by the leaders from major political parties. In Palpa, except Maoist Center and Janamukti party, all other political parties have shown their solidarity in agitation.

According to our District Representative Nanda Ram Paudel of Kapilvastu, the agitation is getting more serious in the district. In sixth day of the agitation, the normal lives, education, health organizations market and industries have been completely closed.

People have been demonstrating against the amendment proposal accusing government of attempting to divide people and their harmony. The agitation is led by CPN UML along with CPN ML and other political parties.

Meanwhile, the meeting held by District’s security Committee on December 5 has decided to make some places around headquarters as restricted area until the further notice.

According to Rastriya Samachar Samitee (RSS), CPN UML has decided to make agitation more effective throughout the nation against the amendment proposal.

The standing committee meeting held in UML President KP OLi’s residence has decided to make the agitation nationwide. The party’s vice chairman bam Dev Gautam said that the party has decided to make the agitation more effective throughout all seven provinces.

Spokesperson Yogesh Bhattarai of CPN UML said that the standing committee meeting has decided to make the agitation more effective throughout all seven provinces with huge assembly and people’s demonstration. He added that the time and date will be fixed soon.
