Demo Polling Completed in Tanahu
Demo polling has been completed in Damauli on May 3 with the technical assistance of District Election Office Tanahu and Federation of Nepali Journalists Tanahu.
District Election Officer Hari Prasad Dhakal said that the sample voting was held in preparation for the local level election to be held on May 13.
He said that the voters could get information about the voting process through sample voting.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief District Officer Bishwaprakash Aryal stressed the need to make voting free from threat and intimidation. He added that the media should convince the voters about the credibility of the election.
Chairperson of the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Tanahun, Ujwal Poudel said that the sample voting was organized on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day as voting was the main basis of freedom of expression.
There were 61 participants in the sample voting. Out of 61 votes, the vote for post of mayor was declared invalid.
Voters who cast their ballots said that the ballot papers were too big and the political parties had formed an alliance, which could lead to problems in identifying candidates.
The sample voting was observed by an INSEC representative.
