Death of Two and Three Injured after a Stray Bomb Blast in Kalikot
Jharana Thapa, three, died on the spot after a stray bomb exploded on October 29, 2022, in Tilagufa Municipality-10 Ranawada. Saraswati Rana, five, died during treatment at the Karnali Provincial Hospital of Surkhet.
DSP Jaishwar Rimal of District Police Office, Kalikot informed INSEC representative that eight-year-old Kamal Thapa, three-year-old Darshana Rana and five-year-old Muskan Thapa were severely injured in the blast.
According to him, the injured were airlifted to Karnali Provincial Hospital in and are being treated.
The explosion occurred while the children were playing in a field near their home.
Chief District Officer Ramhari Sharma said that the injured children were airlifted to Surkhet on the initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs after treatment was not possible in Kalikot.
The police speculated that it could be an old socket bomb.
