Death of Detainee at Police Custody
Nasir Uddin Khan, 21, of Bijayanagar Rural Municipality-5, Thakurapur committed suicide on the morning of November 5, 2024 in the toilet of the area police office, Ganeshpur. He was kept in the police custody for raping a 17-year-old girl on October 15.
DSP Mohan Mani Adhikari from the District Police Office reported that the deceased had been in a normal state but seemed troubled after a visit from their sister on the evening of November 4. The next morning, on November 5, fellow detainees noticed the individual hanging in the toilet, using a shawl.
The post-mortem of the body was conducted on November 5 at Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal. The deceased’s uncle, Anwar Mohammad Musalman, Ward Chairperson of Bijaynagar Rural Municipality-5, received the body, and conducted the final rites.
