CPN-UML Cadre Attacked and Injured

CPN-UML has accused Nepali Congress cadres of Dharmadevi Municipality-1 of attacking and injuring Narayan Limbu, 60, a member of CPN-UML Dharmadavi Municipal Committee on May 19, 2020.

The CPN-UML has accused Limbu, who was returning home after reaching the municipality on May 19, of being attacked by a Nepali Congress cadre by blocking the road near Mahabhir in Dharmadevi Municipality-1.

CPN-UML Dharmadevi Municipal Committee has issued a statement demanding action against the perpetrators of the incident.

A statement issued by CPN-UML Dharmadevi Municipal Committee Chairperson Surya Poudel states that the Municipal Committee member was beaten by the rageful Nepali Congress cadres who could not accept the defeat of the election.

The victim was elected as a ward member from UML in the local level election of 2017.

As a result of the incident, the victim was brutally injured and has been admitted to Birat Nursing Home, Biratnagar after failing to get treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan Ghopa.

A team of Area Police Office Chainpur reached the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident, said Saroj Khanal, Information Officer of District Police Office.

Nepali Congress cadre Rupaman Tamang, who was accused of being involved in the incident, has absconded and a search is ongoing, informed the police.

Police said that no written complaint was lodged despite verbal information about the incident.
