Court Orders Imprisonment of 18 Years to the Guilty of Rape
Indra Bahadur Rai, 47, of Mechinagar Municipality-10 has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for raping a 12-year-old girl.
A bench of Justice Dil Kumar Bardewa gave the verdict on April 5, 2022, and has also ordered to pay NPR 50,000 to the victim as compensation, informed Information Officer Arjun Prasad Guragain.
The victim had filed a complaint at the Area Police Office Dhulabari on April 4, 2021 stating that the accused had raped her on March 13, 2021.
The accused was arrested on April 4, 2021 and a case of rape was filed against him on April 25, 2021.
He was remanded to custody on April 28, 2021.
The health checkup of the victim was conducted on April 4.
