Court Orders 13 Years Jail Sentence to the Guilty of Rape
Bishnu Sunar, 44, of Myang Rural Municipality-3 has been sentenced to 13 years in prison by the district court for raping and attempting to kill a 61-year-old woman.
A bench of District Judge Umesh Prasad Luitel passed the verdict on April 3.
Bench Officer, Rita Lamichhane informed that the guilty was charged NPR 240,000 as compensation to the victim.
The victim had lodged a complaint at the District Police Office on May 31, 2021, alleging that Sunar had first injured the victim with a sharp weapon and then raped her on May 29, 2021. Sunar was remanded in custody on June 24 following an order of the district court.
The health checkup and treatment of the victim were conducted at Trishuli Hospital on May 30 and at TU Teaching Hospital, Kathmandu.
