Court Orders Seven Years of Imprisonment to the Guilty of Rape
The district court of Baglung has sentenced 21-year-old Resham Bhan of Tarakhola Rural Municipality-2 to seven years in prison for raping a 19-year-old girl.
A bench of Baglung District Court Judge Basudev Neupane declared him guilty and sentenced him to seven years imprisonment and charged Rs 80,000 as compensation on April 7, said District Court Baglung Information Officer Surya Prasad Bhandari.
The victim had lodged a complaint against the accused at the District Police Office, Baglung on July 1, 2021.
On the basis of the same complaint, the police arrested the accused on July 2 and registered a case against him through the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in the District Court, Baglung on July 26.
According to Bhandari, the accused has been lodged in jail for trial since July 27 by the order of the District Court, Baglung.
