Court Declares 11 Years’ Imprisonment to the Guilty of Rape
Som Bahadur Tamang, 28, of Suryagadhi Rural Municipality-9 has been sentenced to 11 years in prison by a district court for raping a 22-year-old woman.
A bench of District Judge Umesh Prasad Luitel convicted Tamang of rape and sentenced him to 11 years imprisonment, fined him NRs. 30,000 and charged him NRs. 30,000 as compensation to the victim on February 22, informed court judge Indra Kumar Khadka.
The victim was raped on November 14, 2018, and the complaint was filed at the District Police Office on November 16, 2018. After receiving the complaint, the police arrested Tamang on the same day.
Tamang was remanded in custody by the district court on December 9, 2018.
The victim was examined at Trishuli District Hospital on November 16, 2020.
