Court Adjourns Case of Rape, Forced Abortion, and Concealment of Crime
It has been decided to adjourn the case against Birendra Prasad Sah, 25, of Rupani Rural Municipality-2, and Hemnarayan Sah (Haluvai) of Sonapur Village Post, Supaul District, Bihar State, India, on the charge of rape of a 17-year-old girl and concealment of crime through abortion, 6 April 2023.
A bench of District Judge Hemant Rawal’s adjourned the case against the absconding accused. In the case of Birendra’s brother Gajendra Prasad Sah, 38, it has been ordered that he be submitted for punishment.
The victim’s grandfather filed a complaint at the District Police Office on 24 February 2021 stating that the accused Birendra raped and threatened the victim and made her pregnant and the other accused forced her to abort the pregnancy at eight months of conception. The district police office registered a complaint against the accused on 1 March 2021. The health examination of the victim girl was conducted at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan on 24 February 2021.
Accused Birendra Rupni was working as the assistant headmaster and his brother Gajendra was the headmaster of BS (Baldev Sah) Memorial Boarding School located in Rural municipality-2. The victim said that Birendra raped her several times in the classroom and made her pregnant on 9 April 2020 by inciting her with the offer of waiving school fees and threatening her to fail her in exams. The charge sheet was filed in the court on 28 March 2021
